Unplug the Jukebox

And do us all a favor.

This song is in my head. Mayhaps it should be in yours.

Eric’s Request

Eric says I use my photoshopping for evil, and have never photoshopped him with Beyonce.

I tried to think… how can I keep humor in this request?

Whooomp here it is

The Morning Weeze

Since I’ve been writing  a lot about the Weezer lately there is only one thing to do, share some Weezer for the morning.

This is the weezley guys doing a cover of Coldplay’s ”Viva la Vida”:

that’s raditude.

“I want you to” … see this video

I’m so totally sad that Green Day is not as cool as Weezer.

As Weezer gets more radically awesome… Green Day slips into the mtv culture cesspool… see their “21st Century Breakdown” video directed by Marc Webb

Maybe it has to do with all the “Raditude”  that’s coming out Nov. 3, or maybe it’s the fact they are designing a snuggie…

I digress I was actually going to talk about their new music video “I want you to” which was also directed by (500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb.

The colors, the clothing, and the humor are spot on and totally in line with the fashion and musical senses of Weezer. Also I love the flair of the Twilight Zone splashed around in this video.

I must show a few still shots from the video because I’m a terrible mess at embedding.

Firstly I’m suprised Isabel has never vacationed here:

And here’s some River’s I’m digging his hair:

And this is Brian who is a slick, and dreamy car attendant:

I think Scott should always wear suspenders:

And here’s Pat playing a “dangerous” game”:

Here’s a very strange barber shop quartet consisting of exponential weezies:

and finally the whole band mostly together:

I can’t figure how to embed the video so you can see Weezer’s awesome video for ” I want you to” at the linky here. Enjoy!

Jimmy’s Musical Doodles

There are many times when we are guilty of schadenfroh, or taking glee in the midst of others pain.

here is one of those moments, brought to you by me!

Here are some doodles of Jimmy as current musical icons:

and of course as Lady G! the queen of whatever it is that she does…

You took joy in this.

Sorry Jimmy

Lady Gaga’s Inspiration

You may see her shirtless and sometimes pantless action… but is Lady Gaga hiding something?

No I’m not talking about the people who says she’s a Mister Gaga… I’m talking about her fashion inspirations….

Is she hiding the fact that her “look” & fashion come from the hit cartoon Jem & the Holograms?

I think Lady G looks a lot like Jem/Jerrica…  you can note the similarities yourself….

Lady Gaga:

Jem:

Do you remember that Jem’s theme song promises you “Adventure… excitement… Glamour and glitter, Fashion and fame!” Doesn’t that sound like Lady Gaga’s game?

Jem thinks this is truly outrageous…
If you are an 80’s child you remember the wild fashions that happened on this more than rad cartoon. The makeup, the hair, the uneccessary drama, the boyfriend who is in love with the same girl more than once. This sounds eerily identical to the happenings of Lady Gaga.

But I really don’t mind….. because Lady Gaga is fabulous without holograms… and if there were a movie about Jem (that wasn’t Hanna Montana) I think Lady Gaga should star in it.

Ohhhhhhh the lovegame.

Have a truly Outrageous Day!

Monday’s Elvis: Elvis Costello

Let’s talk about

I cannot stop listening to Elvis Costello.

I don’t think this is a major suprise as I listen to Bowie, Toto, and Men at work in my regular rotation….actually sometimes I like to pretend that it is years or even decades ago with my music…but i digress

I even stayed up last night to watch a concert he did in 2007 on VH1… even though I’ve already seen it. But it was amazing, and so worth my groggy morning..

There is something about him that always makes me smile. I adore his humor, and his lyrics… all in all he’s adorable. And not only is his music great, but he does awesome covers…. like “Suspicious Minds” “My Funny Valentine” and “Beautiful”.

Enjoy Elvis Costello!

I still love to wash in your old bathwater

I think this is like the best performance of the song “Bathwater”

And one of my favorite Costumes too… it’s Gwen is very much like the Skipper from “Gilligan’s Island.”

Enjoy!

Tuesday’s Lauryn

I was most adamantly into rock since early teen-hood.

But I could never deny the sheer magic of Lauryn Hill, or the Fugees.

Her voice was awesome… I also remember that i loved her clothes… And she was so pre-Fergie fantastic.

Also when she went solo… she still kicked ass

I also like how similar her name was to mine…  but I digress

Enjoy this video from Lauryn (which is one of my favorite videos)

Then enjoy this not so great video from Wyclef Jean (who’s post Fugee’s work has not really impressed me)

Losing Touch

I’m in no hurry, you go on
And tell your friends I’m losing touch
Fill their heads with rumours of impending doom
It must be true

I have no clue why there are so many “Killers” inspired posts as of late.

But I’m really in this mood for their synthisized wonder tunes…

I have a feeling this site may become a darling to the Brandon Flowers community since I have been adoring his clothing as of late:

His clothing is quite smashing actually. I think more people should dress like he does…

And he also reminds me that I really need to invest in some feathery outfits and more feathery accessories:

Did i mention that the music is also fun:

Have you had your Wham! today?

Today I’m having the best time listening to Wham!

If you feel inclined to listen to Wham! I suggest you do the following

-Listen to “Young Guns”

-Grab a friend and try to sing a Wham! song in Kareoke… I suggest “Careless Whispers”

-Pull that “Choose Life” shirt out of your closet

-Jitterbug until you hit that High…

-feather your locks

Renew your membership to the Andrew Ridgeley fanclub:

And then dress like George Michael Post Wham! … little stubble and all.

and wake me up before you go-go.

The Spaceman

I have a feeling the biggest halloween costume of the year is going to be Brandon Flowers Outfit from the music video “Spaceman.”

I have previously stated that I love that video.

AND more so I have commented on this more than rad costume. Which someday even I (a 5′ tall girl) would love to own.

I really think that it has everything to do with the shoulder pads. Or as we should call them… rad pads :)

But why I really think that This is going on is because I get at least 30 searches a week on this page of “brandon flowers spaceman”… or “brandon flowers spaceman costume”

which I find very awesome. I emplore you if you dress like this at any time PLEASE send me a picture! I will put them all over here.

Monday’s Dylan

I am listening to “Sleepwalker” at work

So today I would like people to think about Jakob Dylan.

Lead Singer from the Wallflowers….

Here he is in a hallway:

here he is playing a guitar:

He can still drive it home with one headlight.

This is so not my Jam

This is for people who want to watch music videos.

I give to you:

Top 5 “no one would want this for their ‘jam’ songs”

Michael Bolton- “Can I touch you there?”

Yes this is a real song. This song sounds wrong… not just the innuendo of the title- but the very inapropriate pan flute. And may I add the fedora does nothing for Mr. Bolton, nor does splashing about in a river make anything about this song better.

Jewel- “Hands”

Okay this song would be like the weirdest song for a girl at a club to scream “this is my jam”… unless she really likes hands. And what club would play this???

Green Day – “21 Guns”

For all the reasons stressed in my previous post about Green Day. This is the whiniest song ever. And the answer to the following analogy

BLINK 182: ADAM’S SONG

Mandy Moore- In my Pocket

This song is here for the obvious reasons. Mandy’s lame. And this song is about pennies!!! Secretly this is Isabel’s favorite song, an interesting fact.

And finally anything by Smash Mouth. If it were 9 years ago sure. But don’t try to get me into hearing ’All Star’ now that I am 23 years old, because no it doesn’t rock. And yes, all I think about when I see it is “Mystery Men.”
